On April 15, 2014, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph MacNeil celebrated his 90th birthday. Serving the Archdiocese of Edmonton from 1973-1999 as Archbishop and from 1999 to the present as Archbishop Emeritus, MacNeil has been a true shepherd to us for the past 40 years.
Below is an assortment of photographs from the Archives of The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and The Western Catholic Reporter. These photographs provide a snapshot of Archbishop MacNeil's life from his graduation in 1944 to the present. The photo gallery below includes photographs from his time at Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax, as a Canon Law student in Rome, as a young priest in Nova Scotia, his Episcopal Ordination, and his 40 years of service in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
