Newman Theological College is proud to announce that its Academic Senate has confirmed the appointment of Robert McKeon, PhD as Professor Emeritus.

As both an alumnus a Professor of Theology, Dr. McKeon has been a remarkable ambassador of the College for many years and held several leadership roles. Since taking on the role of Coordinator of the Office for Social Justice for the Archdiocese of Edmonton, he has generously continued to teach and advise the College on matters of social justice, the Church in Canada, and aboriginal issues.

The designation of Professor Emeritus is awarded to full professors retired from active duties and is translated from the Latin as “having merited honourable discharge by service." It is a mark of distinguished service awarded only to a chosen few on retirement, to persons of great importance in their given profession.

The honour of Professor Emeritus will be formally conferred at the College’s next Convocation ceremony on Saturday, October 17.  Congratulations Bob!
