The Office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations has a dual mandate:
-
To promote the restoration of unity among Christian churches and ecclesial communities throughout the Archdiocese
-
To foster good relations, friendship and mutual understanding between Catholics and members of other faith communities (e.g. Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.)
Compelled by the desire of Jesus Christ "that all may be one" (John 17:21), and encouraged by the spirit of Vatican II, the office fullfills its missions by organizing activities of ecumenical and inter-faith prayer, education, dialogue and common witness.
