Pastoral care communicates Christ’s healing love and compassion to all, especially those who suffer in body, mind or spirit. The Office of Pastoral Care works to coordinate and promote programs and initiatives that offer spiritual and sacramental support.

We connect with healthcare institutions, chaplains, parishes and clergy for the well-being of our Catholic community. 

We connect with pastoral visitor volunteers by providing education, training and formation in order to prepare them for service in our health care facilities and prisons.  

We participate in and promote major international, national and local initiatives to raise awareness and involvement in pastoral care, including: World Day of the Sick, Pastoral Care Week, Restorative Justice Week, and other restorative justice opportunities and pastoral care initiatives in our Catholic and  ecumenical communities.

We oversee the training of parish leaders in the Called to Protect™ program to ensure a safe environment for our children, youth and vulnerable persons.

The Office of Pastoral Care benefits greatly from the guidance and support of an Advisory Committee comprised of clergy, chaplains and laity.  This group meets several times a year to further the many initiatives of the Office of Pastoral Care.  Advisory Committee members are appointed by the Archbishop for a three-year term.
