The Point
St. Joseph's Basilica, 11355 Jasper Ave.

The Point Returns for Another Season
The Point exists to facilitate community, worship, and discussion for Catholics, but we also prioritize the need for a place where non-catholics and non-christians can be exposed to authentic Christianity in a stripped down and accessible way. Please take advantage of that by inviting a friend who may not have had opportunities in the past to learn about Christ or His Church. Consider the impact of our combined effort to open up the doors of our Church to a world that desperately needs Christ.

Topic: OMG

Guest: Fr. Mike Mireau

Who: Young Adults (18-35)

When: Friday, September 10, 7:30 p.m.

Catholic Student's Association - U of A
The Catholic Students' Association (CSA) is a student-led group at the University of Alberta that provides a community for students with Catholic values.

The CSA offers Faith Studies where small groups of students can get together to learn more about their faith. We welcome the break of summer! A time to relax and to be refreshed. It can be difficult to seek refreshment for our souls if we continue to be as busy as we can. Last summer, at least in Toronto, we had a long extended Spring. Without the heat of summer, we were constantly waiting for summer to come. And then Fall arrived! We wait and wait and never stop to appreciate what is in the here and now. Whether it is the green leaves on the trees blowing in the wind, or the different shapes of clouds in the blue sky, creation has blossomed around us. It is a call for us to literally, "Stop and smell the roses"..... inviting us to pause, to give thanks to God, and to allow our hearts to flower and be open to God's presence. We are one with creation, with the life that has blossomed around us. We take time this summer to be refreshed and renewed and to be open to the mystery of what it might me to "stop and smell the roses", to take time and walk with God on a sunny afternoon. If we always wait for the perfect time, there will never be a perfect time!

We hope this summer is one of life and refreshment of spirit.

Fr. Santo Arrigo C.Ss.R.
Coordinator of Redeemer House Ministries

The Back Porch

On February 18, 2009, The Back Porch website made its appearance into the world of cyberspace.  This website is geared towards abortion-minded clients and its goal is to be an 11th hour online ministry.  I would like to encourage all of you to take a few minutes to look at our website and inform yourself about The Back Porch Ministry.

We are located across the street from the abortion clinic and because we have volunteers who provide information to men and women with abortion appointments, we have been able to save babies at the last minute from the fate of abortion. FIVE babies have been saved so far this year due to the Back Porch.
