Archbishop Smith meets with Benedict XVI

During a private audience with Pope Benedict XVI on Monday, Archbishop Richard Smith, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) presented the Holy Father with a number of special gifts from Canada. Included were:

During their audience, Archbishop Smith, CCCB Vice President Archbishop-elect Paul-André Durocher of Gatineau, and CCCB General Secretary Msgr. Patrick Powers, P.H., discussed with Pope Benedict XVI the major pastoral orientations and challenges facing the Conference and the Church in Canada.

The Holy Father also blessed a number of rosaries that the CCCB representatives will bring back to Canada as gifts.    

The CCCB delegation continues its visits in Rome with the major offices of the Holy See until November 18.
