In a 1913 circular explaining the decision to create the Archdiocese of Edmonton and the Diocese of Calgary out of the old Diocese of St. Albert, Archbishop Émile Legal, OMI, wrote of the “wonderful transformation” that was happening as immigrants flocked to the new province of Alberta. His words also evoke that change that happens in each of us when we encounter Jesus Christ, and so they have been chosen as a theme for a historical exhibit honouring the 100th anniversary of the Archdiocese. The exhibit will be on display for the first time after the 7 p.m. Jubilee Mass on Thursday, October 11, at
St. Joseph’s Basilica, and for a month at Edmonton City Hall. All parishioners are cordially invited to join Archbishop Smith at a reception officially opening the exhibit on Thursday, October 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the City Room. For display times throughout the month, please visit our online Calendar..
