Hundreds of people are expected to march through downtown Edmonton on Thursday in a demonstration of support for the most basic of all human rights – the right to life.
The annual Alberta March for Life is an opportunity to remind everyone that life is precious and that we who enjoy it need to speak on behalf of those who cannot.

The March begins with a rally at the Alberta legislature on Thursday, May 8, at 12 noon.
At 1:30 p.m. the marchers will leave in procession through downtown Edmonton to Sir Winston Churchill Square. They will return to the legislature at 3:30 p.m. for closing speeches and prayers.

Speakers include Denise Mountenay, founder of Canada Silent No More, an outreach to women and men who have suffered after abortion, and Joanne Byfield of The Back Porch, a unique volunteer program that offers counselling and alternatives to women considering abortion. Among those attending will be Archbishop Smith and fellow Bishops from Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and a Worship Leader from the Spruce Grove Alliance Church.

The Alberta March for Life coincides with similar demonstrations across the country, including one on Parliament Hill.

All are welcome. Find out why these marchers take time off their work or other commitments to affirm their belief that everyone has the right to be here.
