Development and Peace advises that the situation in South Sudan has been rapidly deteriorating since last December, and the country is now experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

"Within the current, escalating conflict, we are seeing over one million displaced people and hundreds of thousands of refugees, and more recently we learned that over three million people are facing severe food shortages. Development and Peace has been supporting peace and reconciliation projects in the region for several years and will continue to follow the situation closely so as to best respond to the most urgent needs of the population according to D&P's limited capacities and those of our partners on the ground. This is a forgotten crisis, largely neglected by mainstream media."
