The Road to Discipleship:
My Grace is Sufficient for You

What do we need to come to Jesus and receive what he offers? People must hear and learn from the Father, through fully human and fully divine Jesus. People who receive what Jesus offers have been given to Jesus by his Father. God’s will is fundamental, for “no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father.” God’s gracious action (grace) in our lives saves us. We can work at our salvation because God is at work within us “to will and to work for his good purpose” (Phil. 2:13). Without Christ abiding in us (and we in Christ), we can do nothing (John 15:5). All is God’s grace. Jesus’ complete obedience to the Father models true discipleship.
