Canada's Catholic Bishops have sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, congratulating him on his swearing-in and, at the same time, reminding him of the need for action on a list of urgent issues.

The letter, signed by Bishop Douglas Crosby, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), assures the Prime Minister of the prayers of the Catholic Bishops of the country and their "hope to collaborate with you and all the members of your Cabinet on issues of importance for the common good of the citizens of our country and of the international community."

Among the issues of common concern, the President of the CCCB refers to climate change; the Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission; the refugee crisis; the conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, as well as Ukraine; and the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada on euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.
