REv. Jim CorriganFather Jim Corrigan has been appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese, a position in which he will assist Archbishop Richard Smith in the governance of the Archdiocese and may act for the Archbishop in his absence. 

In announcing the appointment on March 12, Archbishop Smith said Father Corrigan will continue as Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Sherwood Park, in addition to his responsibilities as Vicar General.

"Father Jim Corrigan is an exemplary priest who has devotedly served the people and presbyterate of our Archdiocese as Pastor and as Chair of the Presbyteral Council," Archbishop Smith stated. "He brings to the office of Vicar General great pastoral wisdom and experience and priestly dedication. 

"I pray that God will abundantly bless Father Jim as he undertakes this important ministry of service to Our Lord and the people of this Archdiocese."

Father Corrigan was ordained to the priesthood in 2004 and has served several parishes in the Archdiocese, as well as serving on a number of archdiocesan committees and as chaplain or spiritual adviser to various lay organizations. In the position of Vicar General, Father Corrigan succeeds Msgr. Jack Hamilton, who retired from parish ministry in 2017.

Following Bishop Gregory Bittman's appointment to the Diocese of Nelson, Archbishop Smith also announced the following new assignments at the Archdiocese:

  • Moderator of the Curia – Rev. Adam Lech

  • Chancellor – Josée Marr

  • Judicial Vicar – Rev. Philip Creurer JCD
