To send a condolence message to His Grace and the Smith family,

She stayed home to care for the children and then returned to the workforce as Parish Secretary at St. Agnes Parish in Halifax, where she served until her retirement. She was a past presdent and charter member of the Catholic Women's League of St. Michael's Parish in Spryfield and served on the executive of the provincial CWL.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald; son, Most Rev. Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton; daughter, Monica Loye (Paul); son, Paul Smith (Susan) and daughter, Clare Young (James); and five grandchildren.
