The Archdiocese of Edmonton and the Maronite Catholics of Alberta are pleased and honoured to welcome His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, on the only Alberta stop of his visit to Canada. The Maronite Church is an Eastern Catholic Church in full communion with the Holy See of Rome. Centred in Lebanon, the Maronites make up the largest Christian community in a country where religion and politics are often at odds. The Patriarch will speak on the challenges of preserving the faith in this region of the Middle East and his efforts to encourage peaceful coexistence in a spirit of love and respect.

All are invited to join His Beatitude for Mass at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at St Joseph’s Basilica, to be followed by a banquet at the Shaw Conference Centre. For more information or to purchase dinner tickets, contact Dianna Chamoun at 780-893-5774.
