VIDEO: Joint Indigenous and Bishops delegation to visit Pope Francis in December to prepare for reconciliation visit to Canada

Pope Francis has accepted an invitation from the Bishops of Canada to visit Canada for a pilgrimage of healing and reconciliation with our Indigenous sisters and brothers. A joint delegation to Rome will take place 17-20 December 2021, where Pope Francis will hear directly from Indigenous Peoples on the historical and ongoing legacy of residential schools, as well as their hopes and desires for his visit to Canada.

Oct. 31 will celebrate Catholic Social Services Sunday, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the agency founded by Monsignor Bill Irwin. In addition, the last Sunday of October will be marked as Catholic Social Services Sunday from this day forward.

Newman Theological College awards first Faith & Reason Scholarship

An incoming freshman to the new Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Studies program will have the costs of tuition covered after being awarded a $24,000 scholarship.  Nearly a dozen applicants submitted their work to the scholarship committee but Jackie Cowley’s moving essay submission stood out.
